In one of the most interesting markets in Asia  I looked up and saw the lineman repairing the phone line. How does it know what line goes where? It also fascinates me how so much data can travel so fast through a thin copper wire. 

Tree on Fire in the Forest of Meghalaya

Deep in the forest we came upon this tree on fire. It had been raining hard for several days with high winds and lightning. I assume it had been hit about 14 hours earlier and was still burning.

As medical tourism gains impetus in India, since it is one of the chepaest tourism destinations, it was decided by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, following a meeting with the Ministry of Tourism, has made a statement that a National Accreditation Health Board needs to be established to maintain international standards in the country’s medical facilities. According to an official statement - “Medical tourism as an industry has begun to take concrete shape with the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare and the Ministry of Tourism thrashing out the intricacies involved.”

There is a story in the Times of India today about a lecturer at Calcutta Univesity who Plagiarised  his Phd Thesis and got caught. But it seems it took a letter from the  President of India to get the University to act.

Red Panda or Firefox

I saw on Sunday a very rare bear called a firefox but I am not going to tell anyone where I saw it.  If I do someone will shoot it. I will just say it is somewhere deep in the forests  in NE India. The Red Panda is endangered so please do not hunt this bear.
