What
do you think would happen if 20 children suddenly died of a mysterious illness
in a suburb of San Diego? My guess is
that that it would be on the front page of all the national newspapers in America.
And seen on CNN around the world. So it is strange to me that I just read
a 150 word news item in The Shillong Times titled Mysterious Disease
Claims 20. The article says “ More than 20 people, mainly children, died
in two small hamlets…. according to sources, eight children from these two
villages took ill last week and all of them died within a few days. Most of the
children had chest pain and died within a few days.”
This
morning I met my 7 year old daughter's Principal and said I wanted my
daughter to be a journalist. It is a noble profession she said. Yes we must get
out the truth. I guess no one is too interest in the lives of 20 children
in a small remote village in Meghalaya India.

read about it on this blog.
