So Much Going On In Chllibreeze

Dr. Nishi has created a fantastic way for Indian writers to learn from their mistakes. It is called emailpooper and can be found on our new website for Indian writers called chillibreeze.net. Here are some Q & A about it.

What is emailpooper?

Emailpooper is a blog written by Dr. Nishi Viswanathan of Chillibreeze.com.

Every blog in emailpooper will be an analysis of an actual email sent to Nishi by an Indian writer. At times, the emails posted might be outright terrible. At times, they might be emails with some potential. In a few cases, they could be really good emails posted as examples of "how to write a great email".

What is the aim of this blog?

Each month, we receive hundreds of emails from writers, mostly ones looking for a project. Surprisingly, wannabe writers and editors don't even write grammatically correct emails or bother to edit them. We, at Chillibreeze, are torn between our admiration of Indian writing talent and our frustration with bad email techniques.

We hope that by pointing out actual email errors, we are able to bring about a revolution in the art of email writing in India. In any case, the senders of the emails remain anonymous, so we hope we do not offend anyone.

So basically, you will be pointing out grammatical errors?

We will be focussing more on writing style than anything else. Yes, we will be tackling a few grammatical errors but we do not intend to make this blog a nitpicky teacher of English grammar. We know you are not looking for a back-to-school experience.

Here, we will discuss sentence construction errors (Does it sound awkward?), usage (Is this how the world says it?) and style (Is there a better way to say it?) rather than grammar and punctuation (Is there an extra comma in the sentence?). But any grammatical errors or errors of punctuation that stick out like sore thumbs will not be ignored either.

How to work virtually

Sometimes we don't see each often  since we work virtually. The photo shows one of the rare occasions when our Bangalore team got together.
