The All India Medical Writers Association (AIMWA), a not-for-profit, soon to be registered association of medical writers, conducted its first workshop on 20th of June, 2008, at the Kidwai Memorial Institute of Oncology (KMIO), Bangalore.
The event was organized in collaboration with the World Health Organisation (WHO), the Indian Cooperative Oncology Network (ICON), and the National Institute of Medical Statistics (NIMS), Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR). The local organizers for the event were medical oncologists Dr K. Govind Babu representing KMIO and Prof. Dr Purvish M Parikh representing both ICON and AIMWA. AIMWA is indebted to the organizers for their valuable and enthusiastic efforts especially to Prof Parikh for his contribution in organizing the logistics and program handouts.
ICMR conducted training on the Clinical Trials Registry-India (CTRI) and AIMWA conducted training on Medical Writing. Overall, there were about 50 attendees, most of these at the invitation of ICMR. However, the first delegates to register had come because of the medical writing workshop announcement on the AIMWA website (www.freewebs.com/aimwa).
Dr Roopa Basrur, Senior Manager, Clinical Writing and Document Quality, Wyeth Pharmaceuticals India Ltd, gave a brief introduction to AIMWA and spoke on Medical Writing as a career option. NIMS/ICMR, represented by Dr Abha Rani Aggarwal and Prof Arvind Pandey, among others, conducted training on CTRI.
Dr Hetal Shah, Medical Writing and Clinical Research Consultant, Ahmedabad conducted a workshop on poster presentation. A workshop on abstract writing was conducted by Dr Sujata Shah, Head - Medical Publications, Group sanofi-aventis, India. Each of these was a 2-hour session and was attended by 12-15 participants. About 50% of the participants were medical writers and the others were oncologists and clinical research professionals.
At both the workshops, there was good interaction and the response from the participants during the assignments was enthusiastic. Feedback received indicated that most participants were moderately to highly satisfied with the workshops and would attend and recommend such workshops in future.

All the Heads of Departments / Institutions
A positive thinking for good work can make the work easier for the society at large i.e. city, state, country & the whole world. Any good work can be done regularly by devoting some time and some money necessary for interactions with various people to explore novel ideas by way of arranging programmes or any other easier possible way for the benefit of the people. People have time only where there is money and if such trend continues the future of our children will lead towards a wrong work even lower than the animals. The children should not be considered like goats, houseflies, cows etc.
Some suggestions are enumerated below for the creation of the best world:-
To start a good work, teachers can move forward in assembly and drop Rs.1/= to Rs.5/= in a locked box as per their wishes in front of students and students should know that this fund will be used for the good society and best future to explore good things through our guest / students & teachers of other schools of other cities i.e. state level programme. It may be announced that the box will be kept for three days and everybody’s contribution should be there for a good work. The students can also contribute for a novel work and they can contribute also Rs.1/= to maximum Rs.5/= before or after assembly as per their conveniences for a good social cause.
National / International level work can also be done by interactions for good work by exploring the good things by letters / fax / email in whole world or everywhere what we have done and ask their good / Better thoughts for the benefit of everybody. Such expenses can be meet by adding Rs.5/= or Rs.10/= in monthly tuitions fee and a specific teacher should be deputed in all schools very easily to insist students and parents to do good work. Even parents should insist in their society for the best future of their children. Other options may be chosen to educate children in more better & easy way regularly.
A teacher of world class can think & interact with people strongly for the benefits of everybody. Now, think about so many religions / shastra / ethics / God are there in India / world. The students studied good things in schools and unknown about these vast & confused educations which lead people to be slaughtered in remote areas.
NOW, ALL OF US SHOULD THINK ABOUT GOOD EDUCATION.
