In my opinion your plan is good. Decide on school then house. The hard part is deciding on the school. We have talked to so many American and European parents about the Bangalore International schools. It is a big decision each seems to have issues and strong and weak points. I hope some parents can give you the latest info and some advice.
The Embassy Riding School is in the country and makes a nice 1/2 day trip. Go have lunch and walk around. It is really hard to find so call and get directions ( near Yelkanka) Then there is a riding school in the heart of the city in Palace Grounds. You turn off busy Hebbel Road and all of a sudden you are in a nice green undeveloped area. I think it is owned by the Maharaja of Mysore.
